For the last 9 years, at the end of the outdoor season, an indoor game has been held between a Legbreakers President's VIII and a Captain's VIII at Lords. 

This year to help celebrate our 25th anniversary the 2 clubs that we have been playing the longest were invited to enter a team into a 4 team competition with 2 semi-finals, a 3rd/4th place play off and a final. 

Both Swingers CC & International Rescue CC accepted our invitation and so on Friday 16th October 2016 the first RLB Indoor Cricket Competition took place at Lords. 

Matches was fierce but friendly and were alot closer than some of the scores suggest.  

The first semi-final saw the RLB President's VIII v the RLB Captain's VIII and the cup was retained by the President whose team posted 187 with the loss of 10 wickets. In reply the Captain's VIII lost too many early wickets leaving Mark & Andy a near impossible 90 off the last 4 overs. The President's VIII won by 33 runs.  

In the other Semi-final, and by a strange coincidence, International Rescue also posted 187 with the loss of 10 wickets. Colin & Middy posted the highest score of the evening so far with 67. In reply Swingers first 3 pairs batted steadily leaving Peter & Phil with 84 needed off the last 4 overs. They went for it and scored 82 runs (joint highest score of the night before wickets were deducted) but losing 5 wickets which meant a score of 57 and International Rescue won by 26 runs. 

In the 3rd/4th place match Swingers batted first and posted the highest score of the night with 208. Tom & Richard opened the batting and equaled the highest score (82) of the night (before wickets were deducted) but unfortunately also took the record for most wickets lost by a pair with 7 and so finished on 47. Alex & Mike continued the scoring and they passed Colin's & Middy's (IR) highest score of the night with 69 runs.  In reply RLB Captain's VIII scored steadily and at the half-way point were still in with a shout. However trying to accelerate the scoring Trevor & Will lost too many wickets which meant Andy & Mark needed 93 off 4 overs. They went for it, singles were turned into 2's and several 4's and the odd 6 crashed into the back net. However it was still not enough and Swingers won by 22 runs. In consolation Andy & Mark had scored 70, the highest score of the night.

The final had all the makings of a close contest. Both teams had scored 187 with the loss of 10 wickets in their opening matches.  RLB President's VIII batted first and 4 steady partnerships meant a score of 192 was posted. In reply and unlike the other teams International Rescue decided to change their batting pairs. Unfortunately this tactic didn't work and with some tight Legbreakers bowling meant all 4 pairs struggled and International Rescue ended their overs with just 110 runs. The RLB President's VIII had won by 82 runs.

After the trophy presentations and a few photos everyone retired to the bar for a few beers to either celebrate or commiserate.
